Fire Piston

1 Day Course

 

This is a workshop based 1 Day Course,

Although certain elements of it can take place outside,

The course starts at 9,00 am and finishes 5,00 pm on course days, The course fee covers transport to and from local Train Station and Airport on day of commencement and finish day,

Also included in course fee is tea, coffee, biscuits etc 

You will learn how to make a modern Fire Piston,  which you will take home to continue practising in the privacy of your own home or to impress friends,

You can experiement with different types of Fungi, carbon cloth (char cotton) and other carbon materials, We will discuss the wood or sources for the Fungi and when to select it, how to dry it etc,

You will also be given a tin in which you will make your char cotton to ensure you have an adequate supply to take home,

For anyone who is not used to a Fire Piston, it works in seconds to create a small glowing ember, with one strike of the hand, By compressing air rapidly it reaches sufficient heat to combust the material inside, It works on the same principal as a diesel engine,

You will be introduced to 3 or 4 different tinders so that you can compare and see which one is your best performer,

Dont forget you will be taking your full Fire Piston Kit home with you in a nice leather pouch you make which is great for carrying your piston and tinder in,

These courses are very restricted in numbers, due to the intensive one on one guidance,
